I invoice as an independent contractor based in Sri Lanka, so there is no Canadian payroll, no CPP or EI obligations, and no employment relationship. You get a written contract covering scope, milestones, and IP transfer, plus a formal invoice for each milestone.
The ranges on this page are real starting points, not bait. After a 30-minute discovery call I send a written scope with a single fixed price for the work described. That price does not move unless you ask for something outside the scope, and then you get a written estimate before anything is built. Yes, and I would be suspicious of any developer in 2026 who says otherwise. I use Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code the way a developer uses a compiler or a debugger — to move faster on the parts that are mechanical. Every line still gets reviewed, tested, and understood by me, because I am the one who has to maintain it and answer for it.

Yes, and it is some of my favourite work. I start with a paid code review that gives you a written assessment of the state of the codebase, the risks, and what it would cost to fix — you can act on that document with me or with anyone else.
Two weeks of bug fixes are included with every project — if it breaks, that is on me. After that, you can move onto a monthly retainer for ongoing work, come back for one-off feature builds, or take the documentation and continue with your own team. All three are fine.
